Why Were My Credits Removed?

A detailed explanation of why your credit balance may have decreased and how placement violations affect curator rewards.

Updated over a week ago

1. Why Your Credits May Have Been Removed

If you notice that your credit balance has decreased without having requested a payout, the most common reason is a placement violation.
Placement violations occur when one or more of your accepted songs did not follow our Placement Rules, which are fully explained in the article “Placement Rules and Violations.”

When a placement violation is confirmed, a fine is automatically applied to your account. This fine equals the reward you initially received for that specific submission. No additional credits are deducted for other valid and compliant placements.

2. Where to See Your Placement Violations

To review which placements were fined and why:

  1. Go to your Submissions tab.

  2. Open the Placement Violations sub-tab.

  3. There you’ll find a full list of:

    • The violated placement,

    • The type of violation (e.g., 24-hour rule, 30-day rule, or Top 50 rule),

    • The fine amount, and

    • The date of the violation.

Each entry includes all necessary details to help you understand what went wrong and when it occurred.

3. Which Rules Can Lead to a Fine

Curators can only be fined for confirmed violations of the following rules:

  • 24-Hour Placement Rule – Song not placed within 24 hours of acceptance.

  • 30-Day Duration Rule – Song removed from the playlist before completing 30 consecutive days.

  • Top 50 Position Rule – Song placed or left below position 50 after the 24-hour correction period.

Importantly, for the Top 50 rule, curators always receive a 24-hour warning before a fine is issued. If corrected within that window, no penalty applies.

4. Disputing a Violation

If you believe a violation was recorded incorrectly, you can contact Support to review the case.
Our backend keeps detailed timestamped evidence for every placement — including when it was accepted, placed, moved, or removed — ensuring complete transparency in every decision.

5. Why These Rules Exist

These measures are not meant to penalize curators unfairly, but to protect the artists who trust our platform with their campaigns. Artists are the ones purchasing the service, and maintaining strict placement standards ensures that they receive high-quality, reliable exposure.

While we understand that the rules can sometimes feel strict, they exist to preserve fairness, trust, and platform integrity — ensuring long-term success for both curators and artists alike.
